Yesterday morning I woke up inspired.
You should think “Ruth, dear, you’re a designer, shouldn’t you be inspired daily?”
True. The part of my brain that deals with designs is always working on overdrive, however yesterday, I was inspired to share.
I had been thinking how amazing some collaborations are. People collaborate on knitting books, photography books, kits for giveaways, trading services with one another… And I’ve rarely participated, thinking I couldn’t match the others.
On the other hand, I’ve grown an incredible amount of respect for Kirsty Hall Kirsty is a British artist who, in 2010, chose that she would create one piece of art every single day, put it in a jar and set it free. She places jars all over the uk, leaves messages on them so whoever finds them can log it on a blog and say some words. She touched people with her art. She reached out.
I can’t knit for all of you. Heck I can barely knit for myself anymore. But I can organize a project. A scope. A vision. With words.
I was looking at the calendar and thought how funny it was that next year has 53 Sundays. I never had noticed it before and thought “one piece a week”. Sure, I have promised myself things like that before. Like….
I will cook myself a brand new meal every week!
I will give myself a pedicure every week!
I will work out every day!
I will knit ALL MY YARN!!
Never worked.
Not without help, I couldn’t do it myself.
So I set off to find 52 spirited bloggers, writers, artists, photographers, designers… To share their vision with me.
I gave each month of the year a topic. And asked.
It really could have fallen into the obscurity vortex of forgotten projects… Perhaps no one would answer. But if one person answered and signed up… I couldn’t turn back.
At the moment, 30 bloggers have signed up to share one Sunday with us. 30 people!
If you think YOU can be one of the group, read this – recruiting guest bloggers
Do you know who signed up? Shannon Okey, aka knitgrrl. Tracey Selingo, who wrote the copy for my site. Brandi Hussey, amazing color-inspired blogger. Jess Van Den, Aussie blogger and publisher of the coolest zine. Knit designers Adriana Hernandez, Laura Nelkin, Becky Herrick, and lots more! Yarnies like Natalie from The Yarn Yard and Katie from Yarn Love. I even recruited my other half, Brian, who will write about his passion…. Cooking!
YOU need to be here. You should share with us! So go on… Give us your Sunday.
