I guess no one would expect me to say I don't have yarn.
I'm a knitter, therefore I stash.
There is so much yarn in my studio I'm in danger of overflowing. And that is after a couple of destash operations, giving some partial skeins to a couple of designer friends for swatching, gifting some, making stuff for myself, designing with it… Short of eating the yarn, I've done everything there is to do with it.
Some stash I have used in unexpected ways: I used all grey/pink/purple scraps to make pompoms for my wedding bouquet! Some I use to teach students. Some to swatch options for stitch patterns. Still, too much around here to breathe correctly.
I grouped all the DK together. I have a bunch of colourful cotton that I got in Spain for a ridiculous price, and a lot of brown merino.
And there you have it, colourful, no? No way I can actually make a garment with it, but….
Yet, there is more yarn where that came from….
So, yesterday morning I set part of my stash away and thought I'd give it to charity. I've made 3 bags which are ready to ship and I have a couple of others to go.
One is going to a women's shelter, one to a local charity shop and one to an animal rescue centre.
Have you got a UK charity who could do with some partial skeins of yarn for projects? Maybe it's teaching knitting to disabled people, or making little trinkets to sell and raise funds. I don't mind where, just want it to go to a good place where people can do something good with it.
Again, this is part of being mindful.
I have enough, it's time to give.
