First Monday in September. How on earth did the year speed up so fast?? Did one of you steal my spring months or something?!
If you don't follow me on twitter (@rockandpurl) you may not have known that my 19yo cousin was staying with us for the summer. He is a lively boy and because I wanted to show him around, I've been working extra hard during some weekdays to ensure I could take days to be with him and go to London, etc.
what this means is, this introvert has not had a day to herself in over 2.5 months.
I work solo. This means, I get up, see my husband off to work and have the entire house to myself to work how I want, when I want, where I want. Usually my sample boxes live in the guest bedroom – and they've been in my studio all summer, making the place look like a bomb hit it. Usually we sleep with the door open. Usually i take naps whenever. Usually I shower with the door open, and I guess my cousin would not have appreciated the sight.
What this is all coming to is that last week I thought “come Monday, I am taking the day off”
I just dropped Brian off to work and I'm blogging. It's not a day off, is it? I am looking at the pile of edits. Tempting to get into one, just for an hour…. But that is not a day off. There is yarn waiting to be knit. But… You catch my drift.
I think I may just lock the door to the studio and pretend nothing is there. Deactivate emails to ensure I don't get pinged to the iPad/iPhone. But I may miss out on fun stuff!!!
If you are self-employed and work from your own home, how do you take care of having a day off?
Tell me in the comments :)
