Are your hands always cold?

Mine are. I’ve been on a mitten/fingerless mitt/glove binge lately. This is just a preview.

A little something: Ravensprings Cowl

During the Rocking Kitchen retreat, I didn’t bring any work knitting. I didn’t see the point, really, being one of the organizers I was mostly busy all the time, and if you’ve seen the previous post, you will know that we had a shower of sponsored goods that made my knitting from home fairly redundant… One of the sponsors had donated a variety of skeins of Noro and in my bag landed a skein of Cyochin, in shade no.7, a mostly purple-burgundy base with flecks of pink, blue and gold. You can see the shade on the far right...

The first Rocking Kitchen Retreat

… there was fun. … there was food. … there was drinking. … there was learning. … there was camaraderie. And there was a massive goodie bag provided by a number of sponsors we couldn’t even have imagined. We were amazed at their generosity, but I am amazed at their push and drive to work with new designers. We hand-picked some brands based on certain criteria: We love their product We believe in their ethos We aim to improve their visibility as they improve ours as well. Have I told you how much I like Anzula?

I love Anzula. There. I said it. Not only are their yarns unlike any other I’ve put my hands on, but their dyework is perfect. I’ve never had any yarn bleed on me. Never had a knot. Never had a skein run short. Never had a weirdly spun area. Never. Also, I’ve never had a bad time hanging out with the Anzula team. I’ve only had the chance to meet half the team at TNNA every year: Sabrina, owner and fearless leader, Charlie, Meg and Kim. They are FUN. They’re fun, generous and very cool to hang out with. I am...

Can I take a day off?

First Monday in September. How on earth did the year speed up so fast?? Did one of you steal my spring months or something?! If you don't follow me on twitter (@rockandpurl) you may not have known that my 19yo cousin was staying with us for the summer. He is a lively boy and because I wanted to show him around, I've been working extra hard during some weekdays to ensure I could take days to be with him and go to London, etc. what this means is, this introvert has not had a day to herself in over 2.5 months. I work solo. This means,...

WIPs

Some upcoming work shots I received a big parcel of Eden Cottage Yarns samples and along with it, 4 skeins of Maya Chunky for an upcoming winter accessory. I’m beyond words with the wonders of these yarns. Check them out here (link). And this is what I’ve been swatching. Frangipani 5ply (link), straight outta Cornwall (I like saying it like Straight Outta Compton, because Cornwall is sooooo gangsta!). This is a swatch for an upcoming Knit Now design. Kate Heppell, the editor, asked for something very specific and I was happy to...
