I want you to knit me. The Big Hug Cowl is here!

I have something new for you! As I mentioned a while ago, I wanted to know if the Bay Area gets as cold as they say, and just to be prepared, I armed myself with some Felted Tweed and my trusty ChiaoGoo circulars to make a cowl. Felted Tweed is one of my fave yarns for its drape and woolliness – but if you can’t do alpaca, any other yarn with wintery-feel will do the trick just fine. Because I’ve been wanting to give YOU something for your comments, your encouragement and how great the viewership and subscription to the podcast has been, I thought… “eh, that cowl...

Chrysaora

I have something new for you! Chrysaora – a crochet shawl pattern, part of the Malabrigo Quickies! As you have probably guessed, I’ve recently played a lot with crochet. I feel that it adds a certain flexibility in the way of working, shaping and creating motifs that knitting simply doesn’t have. It also creates fabrics that can be as delicate as a whisper or as thick and comforting as a cup of hot cocoa. The flexibility is something that I was craving these past months. I’ve worked under a lot of pressure adapting to different styles and wording for different...

Stepping Stones: Early Steps into the Holidays

The ebook is now up! I’m super excited about this! You can already see photos of my V.E.S. (very easy sock!) pattern – it’s my go-to vanilla sock, the one I’ve been making forever for myself, and it’s such an easy and fun pattern that you will just want to use ALL your sock yarn for it. The Halloween and Christmas Socks are up as a teaser, but I can tell you… the needle sizes (US1.5/2.5mm for the Halloween socks and US1/2.25mm for the Christmas socks) the gauge (8 sts to the inch on both) there are 2 top down patterns (V.E.S. and Halloween) and one toe-up...

It’s vintage, darling

The end of summer/beginning of autumn of last year was a burst of inspiration. After coming home from TNNA with lots of wonderful new yarns to try out, I swatched some and they headed to the submissions editors of Interweave…. I got into Knits Spring 2013 (link) with yarn from Universal Yarns, Knitscene Summer 2013 (link) with gorgeous Shibui Knits and Knits Summer 2013 with the ever-so-intriguing Zealana yarn. It really warms me up to see that the yarns I pick for a submission are picked for the final piece, and from here I’d like to thank those yarn companies for their...

Rockpool

Is there any way I can verse lyrically about my love for Anzula that I haven't already? This past weekend, TNNA Winter happened at Long Beach, California. While I personally wasn't there (more on how I kind of was there on another post, thanks Heather Zopetti) some of my designs were present and visible at the Anzula booth. I loaned them Maighdean Mhara and Echoes of Winter to showcase their Mermaid and Echo yarns. I was VERY happy when they also asked me to design something for the Sample It! event, where reps and serious-business peeps go to treat themselves on the Friday...

Viridian

A while ago, I was craving something. Amongst all the stuff I was designing (Difficult and Brainy) i was reaching for something where the Ease and Flow would drive the knitting. A small pattern repeat. A vertical direction. And beads, I could not go without beads. Viridian is a lacy treat! Envolve yourself in lace with just a touch of shimmer with beads on the edging. I've made this pattern so you can enjoy it to the max. There's charts. And written instructions. There's tutorial links for beading and blocking your lace knits!! The luxury of Manos Lace and its delicate...
