Shoulder Slope 2

Posted by on Apr 2, 2012 in Knit, Tutorials | 0 comments

Alright, remember our first of the shoulder slope series? Let’s look at an alternative way to work those shoulders. Do you like short rows? Everybody knows their way, the way that makes them not get dreadful holes…. And if you don’t I can only encourage you to test all the methods you can find, until you find the one that works for you. I will not go into detail, only will mention my steps to create the shoulder slope. Let’s work with 24 stitches this time, making 3 steps of 8 stitches each We will tackle the garment-left area… The pattern may say something...

Shoulder slope

Shoulders are a fickle beast. Shoulders tend to carry the weight of a garment, and as such, the better this little small amount of stitches are worked and bound off, the better off we will be when we’re seaming the garment, when wearing it and blocking it. I always practice on my swatches before committing to the entire garment, and I test 2 methods – the first of which, the modified classic bind off, is the one we’ll talk about today. Button Placement Tutorial

There you have it. Your pattern tells you where to place your buttonholes and then, the magic words “place buttons on opposite side” Well that’s not very helpful is it? Make sure you have a felt-tip pen in a shade VERY close to the garment you’ve worked. Let’s place your button at height with the buttonhole. And slightly towards the edge of the garment. See what we’ve done? Work all the...
